The Budget Nautique Women's Regatta, the Women’s Caribbean
One Design Keelboat Championships, will be held in Simpson Bay
Lagoon, St. Maarten, November 6-7, 2004.
Barbados will be sending its first ever women’s
team to compete; “Women In Motion” . Comprised of
four crew sailing a Jeanneau Sun Fast 20.
Our goal is to raise the profile of women’s
sailing in Barbados, and build a foundation for future women’s
teams from the island to compete in international regattas.

Without their support, we wouldn’t be able to participate
in this event.
With the Regatta only 3 weeks away, we are training 5 days
a week to prepare. Our main obstacle is that we don’t
actually have any 20’ boats on the island for use in training,
so at the moment we are using a 12’ Echo. On the weekends
you can find us down at the Barbados Yacht Club, and Tuesday-Thursday
nights we are up by Surf Side on the West Coast. We had a few
days of minimal wind last week, but this past weekend’s
weather conditions were more favourable.
Keep an eye on this website for updates on our adventures and
mishaps. (such as capsizing the boat in Carlisle Bay two weeks
ago in a squall…) All we are asking for from you now is
your positive thoughts and prayers to the wind god of your choice.

and next week inviting you to join us for Happy Hour at the
