'Women
in motion' - The time has finally come
Dear Friends and Sponsors: ()
The time has finally come - the Budget Nautique
Regatta takes place in St. Maarten this weekend. This past weekend
we geared up to practice starts on Sunday, but unfortunately
were rained out. We were pretty disappointed considering the
importance of solid starts in this type of a race. However,
we did have a great training session late on Sunday afternoon
in a Holder 14 at Surf Side.
Our Happy Hour at the Lucky Horseshoe was a great time - there
were about 50 people that attended, to join in the festivities
and show their support. We also raised over $2000 in the raffle.
If you haven’t checked your ticket numbers to see if you
are a winner, visit the
. There are still a few prizes that have
yet to be claimed!
We received an email from the Race Organizer in St. Maarten,
and learned a bit more about our competition. The twelve teams
currently planning to participate this weekend represent:
Barbados
Dominican Republic
St. Croix
St. John
St. Maarten (5 teams)
St. Thomas
Switzerland (an odd entrant for the Caribbean Championships,
but supposedly an experienced team)
Tortola
There is still space for two more teams, and we have heard
that Antigua is trying to pull together a team to participate.
We are very much looking forward to the regatta, and while
we recognize that the competition will be tough, we really believe
that we will be part of the competition. Make sure to check
back with us next week for the final results and any other stories
from the trip. Thank you again for your support and well wishes
over the past several weeks - we wouldn’t have made it
this far without the encouragement.
Sincerely,
The Crew
